METHACRYLATE

DESCRIPTION

Poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA), better known by the commercial brands Plexiglas®, Perspex^® or Altuglas®, is a thermoplastic material similar to glass. It is supplied in a wide range of extruded or cast, transparent, anti-reflective, crafted, colored and mirrored acrylic sheets; it is available in thick blocks or tubes and round or square bars. PMMA sheets can be machined via the most diverse industrial, artisan or artistic procedures.

PROPERTIES

Methacrylate is a rigid, transparent and exceptionally clear material with good atmospheric and chemical weathering resistance. It has strong mechanical properties and is fairly impact and scratch resistant.

APPLICATION

The list of applications and fields in which it can be used is truly infinite. The most common uses include: counter and window displays, stand pieces, showcases and merchandising items; sign logos and letters, decorative patterns, displays and advertising billboards. In the construction field it can be used for windows and skylights, tiles, parapets, battisedia and furnishings. Finally, due to its great workability, it is also used in mechanical fittings.
