POLYVINYLCHLORIDE
DESCRIPTION
The polyvinylchloride (PVC) is a vinyl chloride polymer and is one of the most widely used plastic materials in the world. It is an amorphous material that has excellent chemical resistance.
PVC is available in expanded form (better known by the trademark of Forex®) and in compact form. It is marketed in sheets of various thicknesses, in white or coloured.
It can be cut or processed with machine tools.
PROPERTIES
PVC is resistant to acids, micro-organisms of moulds and is self-extinguishing, has high rigidity and is an excellent thermal insulator. It is not susceptible to moisture, but has poor resistance to impact and abrasion.
Expanded PVC: flame-resistant material according to DIN4102B1, stable to weathering for outdoor use, with excellent print and screen-printing capacity.
Compact PVC: rigid, hard, sensitive to cutting, with high mechanical strength.
APPLICATION
Because of its many favourable characteristics, PVC has a wide range of applications, from construction and components production to advertising.
